A few years ago, I got a call from a school desk.
It was a Monday morning.
“Are you looking for a school office?”
I said, thinking, What are they looking for?
And they said, “Oh, we have an emergency.
We’re looking for someone to replace the desks that were installed.”
I was excited.
My first thought was, “This could be my new desk!”
But then I thought about what it was like to be in the office for the first time.
A few weeks later, the desk was gone.
I was told it was because of an “unforeseeable” event, but it was really just the desks being replaced.
“I don’t know what caused this,” the desk replacement person said, but he was right.
The desk replaced with the digital technology was a surprise.
It made the office feel a lot more like home.
