US military school opens for women

The US military is opening its first female-only military academy in the Middle East.

The US Central Command said Friday it would begin accepting applicants this summer for the first class of women in the military academy.US military academy students are expected to complete their first military course in 2020, in partnership with the US government. 

“This will mark a milestone in the history of the United States’ military as a whole,” said Army Lt.

Gen. Robert L. Goss, the academy’s commanding general. 

The US military has about 1,400 women and girls serving in the US armed forces, according to the Defense Department. 

At the time of the 2016 election, Donald Trump said that the US military should be 100 percent female. 

 The academy will include at least two undergraduate courses and two graduate courses. 

Students will be trained to defend US interests abroad and in the homeland, according the military.

The academy is located at Fort Irwin, California.

It is the only military academy located in the United State, the Pentagon said.

The military will train up to 5,000 students, and up to 300,000 will serve on active duty.
